Erlinsbach Point Cloud survey project

Data Visualisation project consists of three main steps. First one is Data collecting with TLS Laserscanner, Postprocessing and combination with Kanton Point Cloud Data. Second one is spatial planning for selected Erlinsbach area in terms of developing for 2025 and 2050 year. Visualisations were providet in Video format.

And the last step is bio- reaction measuring survey. Where the main goal is to difine initial reaction of selected candidates about future city development.

Crystallized dress design

Presented dress was done in a very short time, by using blender tool. The logic of an approach is how to become a satisfied result and invent some kind of interesting and usable mould if you have only 6 hours. It was very helpful to become new knowledge about so useful software. Design of my dress is reasonably simple and quite symmetrical. It’s kind of resuming and controlling crystal potentials. At least a just needed to create one half of a dress, by using woman figure with required parameters. After this I mirrored it and unrolled obtained form. With rhino I prepared all pieces need to be connected afterwards. Next step was to lasercut all parts and clue the hole form together. Very important issue of this project, that it could be done for each figure, for big variety of human proportions.

House 4178

ETH Zurich students create robot-built pavilion featuring wooden shingles and latticed framework

House 4178, developed by the students throughout the academic year, used computational design and robotic fabrication to realize a unique two-story timber structure. Throughout the project, multiple prototypes were designed, fabricated, tested and refined, leading to a final project proposal. In order to fabricate the final proposal, a new robotic setup consisting of two large-scale ABB industrial robots on a linear track was developed and installed. In an automated process, the robot precisely pre-cut and assembled over 4000 different elements into large component pieces which together created the walls, floors and enclosure. The final prefabricated elements are composed of three-dimensional spatial trusses autonomously clad with wooden shingles. The structure was then installed by assembling the individual prefabricated elements on-site. The project featured teaching contributions from various groups within the NCCR Digital Fabrication including the Block Research Group (BRG), the Chair of Sustainable Construction, and the Digital Building Technologies.
